Boys Junior Varsity Football, Boys Varsity Football · Week 5 VS. Patuxent RECAP

The Lackey Chargers improved to 5-0 on Friday night when they defeated the Patuxent Panthers 35-0 at Dave Anderson Memorial Stadium.  Lackey has outscored their opponents 172-9 to open the season, allowing only Huntingtown to score against them in a week 2 victory.

Robert “Boogie” Middleton had his most efficient game of the season as he had a hand in all five of the Lackey touchdowns.  He rushed 14 times for 227 yards and three touchdowns, including a five yard plunge as time expired at the end of the first half to put the Chargers ahead 14-0 and seal the victory.  They scored on the ensuing possession in the third quarter when Middleton hooked up with fellow Junior Linn Jordan on a 15 yard reception.  Jordan had three receptions for 53 yards in his first game back after being injured during practice a month ago.  Senior James Wilkerson also returned from an injury and caught four passes for 31 yards, the last of them being a 5 yard touchdown in the 4th quarter.  Sophomore Jordan Bryant was a nice compliment to Middleton on the ground as he had 8 carries for 53 yards.  Justin McIntyre also had three receptions for 41 yards as Middleton ended the game 11-14 for 147 yards and two touchdowns.  He continues to force his name into the conversation for Player of the Year in the County and Conference.

On the defensive side of the ball, Chris “The Hulk” Thompson was unstoppable on the night.  He tallied thirteen tackles, 8 of which were for a loss as the Panthers had a difficult time crossing the line of scrimmage when they ran his way.  He had another three sacks on the evening to increase his league leading total to 12.  Jonathon Bridgett had five tackles, another interception, and was 5 for 5 on PAT’s.  Junior D’Anthony Washington also had 7 tackles.

The Chargers have not started the season 5-0 since 2004 and will look to improve to 6-0 next week when they host the La Plata Warriors.  It is the Homecoming game and is slated to kick off at 7:00 PM.
