Boys Junior Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer · BSCO Weekly Update 9/30

Hello all,

This past week was a bit of a wash. We are hoping that the lakes on everyone’s fields dry up, so we can get back to playing games. Looking ahead to October, it is a busy month with at least 8 games left in the regular season schedule and maybe one playoff game. It is important that we eat healthy, maintain a proficient sleep schedule and stay academically eligible through the rest of the season.

Here is our schedule for this week:

Monday: GAME DAY vs St. CHARLES [“EL TRAFFICKO”] (Bus leaves at 3:00, JV 4:30, Varsity 6:00)
Tuesday: 2:30-4:30 PM
Wednesday: GAME DAY vs LA PLATA (Bus leaves at 3:00, JV starts at 4:30, Varsity 6:00)
Thursday: 2:30-4:30 PM
Friday: 2:30-4:30 PM

Communications – Please let the coaches know if you/your son will not be at practice or a game. This past week, we had a handful of boys who missed practice without informing a coach about their absence. We want to know if someone is dealing with an injury, working with a teacher to bring up a grade or if something else is going on. Let us get better with this as we enter Week 8 of the season.

Postponed Games – Please assume that if any of our remaining games are postponed, we will be practicing after school that day. This means that the boys should pack practice clothes along with their game day gear. If their bags do not fit into their lockers, they can store their bags in C-13.

Team Policy – Just a reminder, in-school and out of school suspensions will result in missed games. Our boys have two jobs; to be a student first and athlete second. If our boys are not in class, they will not play in games.

Senior Night – Our Senior Night this year is October 22, against St. Charles. This year, all seniors will receive a gift from the Athletics Department. I am looking for someone to oversee our Senior Night. This includes organizing the epic senior night feast after the game. Please email me if you are interested.

JV – Nathaniel Brough! The Freshmen player has been consistently improving his soccer skill set and abilities. Coach Lansley has noted that he works his tail off every day. GREAT JOB NATHANIEL!

Varsity – Kyle Portzen! The Junior defender has improved a lot since the start of the season. He is an example of our pre-game slogan of ‘do your job’ as he makes it difficult for opposing players to get goal-side or beat him in a foot race. KEEP IT UP KYLE!
