The Lackey Charger football team got back on the winning track this past Friday when they traveled to Chopticon and beat the Braves, 39-21. The Chargers improved to 4-3 on the season and are still in control of their postseason fate with three games remaining.
Senior defensive back Scottie McMillon jump started the Chargers with an interception on the opening drive of the game. Following the turnover, Senior Jayson Wilmer rumbled four yards to open the scoring for Lackey. Wilmer finished the night with 8 carries for 54 yards, two touchdowns, and a two point conversion. Senior Jonathan Bridgett was the recipient of an 88 yard strike that pushed the Chargers lead to 14-0 in the first quarter. On the defensive side of the ball, Bridgette had an interception and a number of key tackles as he turned in his most impressive game of the season.
The Chargers will travel to Thomas Stone on Friday, October 19th at 7:00 for a game with massive playoff implications.
