The Lackey Chargers found a way to win this past Friday night, defeating Patuxent 20-14 in a game that was hampered by sloppy field conditions due to heavy rain and lots of wind. The victory pushed the Chargers record to 6-3 on the season and put them in the driver’s seat for a first round home playoff game.
The offense started off well as Robert “Boogie” Middleton directed the opening scoring drive that ended with a 55 yard touchdown pass to fellow Senior D’Anthony Washington. Washington also carried the ball 8 times for 48 yards on the night and led the team with 11 total tackles, four of which were for loss. Middleton had 112 yards on 12 carries and also scored two touchdowns to lead the Chargers in every offensive category. The defense played well enough to win and Senior Dustin Berry was brilliant as his punts helped the team secure field position in a variety of situations. The young team continues to fight and show growth as they have gotten better each week.
Lackey will host the McDonough Rams next Friday, November 2nd at 7:00 at Dave Anderson Memorial Stadium.
