The Lackey Chargers finished the regular season on a high note, defeating McDonough at home by a score of 48-0. The Chargers rushed for 257 yards, passed for 116, and played suffocating defense as they won four games in a row to end the season and clinched a playoff birth for the third straight year.
Robert “Boogie” Middleton played sparingly, carrying the ball 4 times for 104 yards and a touchdown. He also completed 6-8 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. He only needs 99 more yards on the ground and 64 in the air to rush and pass for 1,000 in each category for the season.
Senior D’Anthony Washington had another strong performance, carrying the ball 4 times for 70 yards and a touchdown. Jayson Wilmer and Justin McIntyre each rushed for a touchdown and Linn Jordan caught a 57 yard strike to put the game out of reach in the first quarter. Senior Dustin Berry had a great catch and run to close the scoring out in the first half and Junior Kobby Ayim put a stamp on the game with a 70 yard interception return for a touchdown.
The Lackey Chargers will host Frederick Douglass next week in a rematch of the Regional Championship from last year. The game will be held at Dave Anderson Memorial Stadium on Friday, November 9th at 7:00. Since it is a playoff game, the cost is $6 and no badges and/or passes will be accepted.
